Colin Christian

Dolls again! Even more vicious ones!

Colin Christian was born in London in 1964 and several experiences lead him to sculpting. He gets familiar with latex and, influenced by erotism and sadism, he works with that fabric in order to express his creativity through the portraits of young girls. He then moves to the US and initiates new project with his wife Sas Christian, a painter as well. In the 2000s, Colin Christian tackles a new matter: silicone. His themes: good & evil, sci-fi, H.P. Lovecraft or Asia.

The site he shares with his wife: here. His MySpace : here.

Madonna: "on a cover of *all* magazines"

As usual, Madonna doesn't go halfway and when she promotes her new album, the press goes along with her. She was on the cover of the British music magazines Q. More surprisingly, she's also on the cover of a special ecology issue of Vanity Fair, the US magazine founded in 1913.

She's also on the covers of 3 international editions of Elle: US, UK and... France of course!

Interview (created in 1969 by Andy Warhol) was the first this year to talk about the diva's new album and introduced a new picture from the Steven Klein photoshoot (also used for the cover of Hard Candy, to be released on April 29, 2008).

Finally, in France, Madonna can also be seen on the cover Figaro Madame for their fashion issue.

Painted Wagons

Some more graphic mutilations of the Paris subway (line 3).

I'm more and more seduced by the ephemeral state of this works. Also, I love their growing complexity.

I promise I'll try to know more about the artists nex time.

Below, one of my favorite...

Cocoon

A wonderfully naive video, a perfect male-female vocal harmony, effective cute guitars, two little French guys, an Internet buzz, the French music magazine "Les Inrocks" catches that sound, a few summer festivals and there we are! Almost a consecration for Cocoon.

"On My Way"

Mark Daumail (22, vocals and guitars) and Morgane Imbeaux (19, vocals and keyboards) embark us to their colorful universe with genious compositions. The band almost reinvents French folk music with a perfectly balanced album: between optimism and melancholy (with all their tracks from 2006).

PS: thanks to Pascal for helping me discover Cocoon. Too bad I didn't follow you to the Lieu FMR, I would've loved to see them live... hopefully next time?

Dead in jail, aged 19

An article (in French) with a terrible realization: overpopulation in French jails. Can a young 19 year-old boy, whatever the crimes he committed, die this way in prison...?

Micky Green

I know, we've talked about her for a while now... But I only discovered her this week! Micky Green! Her hit "Oh" is this Spring's good surprise: fresh and subtle. The hot 23 year-old Australian recently settled in Paris. She's a former model turned singer with a rather experienced producer: the French-Lebanese Renaud Letang (who's already worked with Manu Chao, Feist, Gonzales, Alain Souchon or Mathieu Boogaerts). French daily newspaper Libération says Micky Green rocks our craddle with "a voice surrounded of purity, mediums and a few high pitches, a sweet melancholy and busting energy".

The album "White T-shirt" is not to be missed. Her website is here, her MySpace over here.
